SONY'S Michael Ephraim has decided to lay into Nintendo and Microsoft's console efforts as too expensive.

Admittedly, he was talking to an Australian newspaper, The Age, and since the Aussies will not see the Playstation 3 this Christmas perhaps he thought he could get away with it.

Ephraim said that to have a good Wii you need shedloads of accessories and this makes it cost about $372. He said that $372 was a bit too much for your average Aussie family to fork out for a console, so he expects his PS2 machine to compete well against both it and the more expensive Xbox 360.

He slagged off the Xbox 360 as not having enough broad appeal because it was too expensive for the mass market of gamers.

There is little necessity to remind Ephraim that when the PS3 ships it will cost the average punter between $610 and $745. So by his own definition, the PS3 will be too expensive and exclusive for the average gamer.

He also doubted that Australian Playstation fans would feel snubbed after being told that they will have to wait until March to buy the console. Sony can't be bothered releasing the console down under until the middle of next year.

osea, en otras palabras un representante de Sony dijo a un periódico Australiano que la Wii y la Xbox 360 son demasiado caras para una familia promedio. Ya que la Wii por ejemplo necesita de muchos perifericos para poder jugarse y eso costaría mas o menos 372 US$, lo cual es "demasiado" para una familia promedio tirar en una consola. Lo mismo la 360.. "too expensive".

Cabe recordar que los Australianos al igual que los Europeos, recién verán la PS3 en Marzo próximo ya que Sony no es capaz ni siquiera de satisfacer las demandas de otros países, con apenas 2,4 millones de unidades a ser producidas hasta fin de año... muy por debajo de la Wii. Quizás con estas declaraciones, espera que la gente no compre por navidades o algo así alguna otra consola.

Pero resulta gracioso viniendo del representante de una compañía cuya consola puede costar mas o menos entre 610 y 745 US$ (con accesorios) hablar de "consola cara para familia promedio"....

la verdad son caros,pero comparados con la play 1 son muy caros.yo ni loco podria comprarme el wii o la xbox 360 si cuesta eso y eso que no esta el precio en pesos

ESTO SOLO BIENE A RECALCAR QUE TODO LO BUENO CUESTA, PERO RECUERDEN QUE SIEMPRE PASA CUANDO ALGO RECIEN SALE AL MERCADO
DEJEN QUE VENGA LA COMPRA Y DEMANDA Y VERAN COMO COMENSARA A VARIAR LOS PRECIOS.

LA VERDAD SI TIENEN RAZON, UNO POR LOS COSTOS Y AHORA POR TANTAS CONSOLAS QUE AHI QUE YA NO SABE UNO CUAL COMPRAR O QUE JUEGO CONSEGUIR. PERO TODO SEA POR LA DIVERCION EN CASA JA JA JA XD....

mmm... alguien captó aca el tema? una persona de una compañía cuya consola va a costar mas de 600 $... este tipo dice q la 360 y Wii son caros cuyo precio de lanzamiento estarán entre los 250 y 400 $.. OMG!
